Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify the clusters of health risk factors for chronic diseases in Korean adults.

Methods: We analyzed 123,300 cases of participants who received health checkups at Korea Association of Health Promotion in 2015. Three health risk behaviors-current smoking, binge drinking and physical inactivity-were analyzed by chi-square test, observed frequency/expected prevalence, and multiple logistic regression analysis.

Results: Odds ratios of all clusters of health risk behaviors in males were significant, and females showed strong association with current smoking and binge drinking regardless of physical inactivity. It is more likely to have more than two health risk factors to men, 30s and 40s, overweight and obesity, those who have metabolic syndrome, and those with no history of hypertension, diabetes, or hyperlipidemia.

Conclusions: Lifestyle and health risk behavior interventions should be developed by strategies based on the characteristics of the participants as well as gender, and should be developed considering the combinations of health risk behaviors.
